Starting with the Galaxy S21 trio, the February SMR (security maintenance release) is currently rolling out to the 2021 Samsung flagships in a few African countries. The new firmware version for the phones is G99xBXXS4BVA8. You can expect the rollout to reach other regions in the coming days. The latest update for the Galaxy Z Flip, meanwhile, is already available widely. According to SamMobile, who first reported these rollouts, the original clamshell Galaxy foldable is picking up the February security update in over 50 countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, South America, and other regions. The Galaxy Z Flip 3 is also widely receiving the new SMR. The update is rolling out with firmware version F711BXXU2BVA9 in Africa, Asia, Australia, and Europe and F711BXXS2BVAA in Latin America. As for the Galaxy Z Fold 2, the new security update is currently available to users in Europe only, at least as of this writing. The new firmware version for this phone is F916BXXS2FVB1. Of course, it’s now only a matter of time before the rollout goes global. The new updates for the Galaxy S10 Lite and the Galaxy S20 FE are also limited to the European region. The devices are receiving the latest SMR with firmware versions G770FXXS6FVA2 and G780FXXU8DVB2 respectively. Note that it’s the 4G version of the latter we are talking about here. The Galaxy S20 FE 5G has yet to pick up the February update.

February update reaches several more Galaxy Smartphones

Samsung first released the February SMR to the Galaxy Note 20 series late last month. The Galaxy S20 series, Galaxy Note 10, Galaxy A50s, and the Galaxy A51 have since picked up the new security update. We now have a bunch of other Galaxy smartphones joining the party. The company recently confirmed that this month’s SMR contains fixes of over 60 vulnerabilities. If you’re using any of the aforementioned Samsung devices and haven’t yet received the new security update, look out for it in the coming days. You should be notified of the OTA (over the air) release once it becomes available for your phone. You can also check in the update is already available by navigating to Settings > Software update > Download and install.
